FGCHEMS wins laurels at CAREC University Start-up Generator Challenge
The FG College of Home Economics and Management Sciences has distinguished themselves in the recent Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) University Start-up Generator Challenge. 3 teams of 10 students participated in the online challenge in addition to appearing in their semester finals simultaneously. The teams developed their ideas on the ‘Sustainable Development’ and ‘Digital Innovation’ themes. More than 250 teams participated in the challenge, whereas the top 12 teams were shortlisted for the National Finale. Team ‘The Genesis’ consisting of 4 brilliant students of FGCHEMS has secured the 1st runner up prize at the National Finale under the Digital innovation theme. They developed the idea of a mobile app ‘Nurture Nest’ in the ‘Digital Innovation’ theme. The innovative smart app is called “Nurture Nest” and tracks developmental milestones and provides expert advice and resources needed to empower parents with timely, personalized support, ensuring children reach their full potential. Team members included Abeer Rizwan, Mehwish Jabeen, Verda Ahmed, and Fatima Khawar. The team was coached by Ms. Sara Nomaan, Lecturer FGCHEMS. This is the first time FGCHEMS has entered this international competition for entrepreneurial excellence. The opportunity was shared by Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Samin, Deputy Secretary (International Coordination) Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Islamabad in June 2024. This project would not be possible without the support of many individuals including Mr. Zulfiqar Qazilbash, Advisor MOFEPT, Prof. Rozina Faheem, Principal FGCHEMS, Mr. Ahmed Masud, Project Director, National Incubation Centre, Mr. Amjad Ali, CEO/Trainer, Macam Services and Ms. Aziza Soleh, Area Coordinator, CIRCLE Women Association. The Nurture Nest Team will now move to the international stage of the competition and will present their groundbreaking ideas at the Regional Finale. We can't wait to see them shine on the international stage!
